Dental Emergency

If a tooth has been knocked out it is important to do the following:

  • Hold the tooth by the crown, not the root, (hold the end you can see when it is in the mouth). If the tooth is not clean, rinse it in milk or cold water - DO NOT scrub the tooth or expose it to disinfectant!
  • If the tooth is clean, gently push it back into its socket (the right way round), this should not hurt if it has not been out long.
  • Hold the tooth in place by biting on a clean cloth or handkerchief.
  • If the tooth will not go back in, put it in a container of milk or in the mouth (between cheek and gum).
  • DO NOT LET THE TOOTH DRY OUT
